The Huila region is Colombia’s true coffee powerhouse. Here, the mountains act as natural climate control for coffee trees. Volcanic soils are so rich that every bean absorbs the energy of nature. Days are sunny, nights are cool — the perfect formula for slow, rich ripening.
The Ombligon variety is considered related to Ethiopian heirloom types, and some local experts assume it may have originated as a natural mutation of Pacamara, Bourbon or Castillo. It has high yields and disease resistance, but most importantly — it delivers bright flavor profiles that attract both professionals and coffee fans. After WBC 2023 this variety found itself at the center of global attention. Its potential is huge, but for now it’s grown only in Huila, which makes it even more exclusive.
